January 1st, 2013 – First of all, let’s start by celebrating that the Mayans were wrong! With all the 2012 programming on television, the blockbuster movie about the end of the world and the “Preppers” buying shelters more expensive than their houses, it was easy to drop your jaw at the thought of it. So, score one point for those of us that just made sure we had a full tank of gas in the truck and treated it like a normal day. Now that we have emerged from the year unscathed, here at Fire Dawgs we’d like to take a moment to reflect on where we’ve been.
Aaron Tietje and Bennett Grove started this business at the beginning of 2012 with a dream of creating a successful business that provided unparalleled customer service, created jobs for honest, hard working people willing to earn a paycheck and do so while still managing to raise and start their families.
The beginning was rough. The two started out with a business plan that most lending institutions wouldn’t even read because they’re weren’t willing to buy a franchise. All this talk in the economy and how small business can turn it around, but what they don’t tell you is that lending institutions snub their nose at start ups. Both entrepreneurs were veterans and off duty firefighters and yet they still had the door shut in their face. No matter, they pressed on and found a way. They took 120 hour work weeks between the FD and Fire Dawgs, one truck, a work ethic and turned it into 3 trucks, added a moving business called Moving Dawgs and created 4 full time positions as well as 3 part time. More impressive than the results were the awards. After servicing over 800 customers in their first year of business, Fire Dawgs was awarded the Angie’s List Super Service Award for 3 Categories and most notably were named ANGIE’S LIST 2012 BEST CONTRACTOR AWARD.
These are huge accolades for a small business of any size and in any year, but to win these awards in their first year of business gave the owners and employees and new boost of confidence going in to 2013. We laugh when we look back at those closed doors and smile thinking about those ahead that are yet to open. For 2013, our goals are many. The most important of which is that we continue to provide unparalleled customer service to our customers and continue growing the Fire Dawgs & Moving Dawgs customer base. Alongside our customer pleasing goals, we aim to reach our economic goals as well and that is to continue adding jobs to veterans and service members that deserve it. If you are a competitor of ours in the Indianapolis area, then we wish you good luck in 2013 because we have no intention of slowing down. So, to our competitors, you’d better do your homework and work on your customer service skills because Fire Dawgs & Moving Dawgs is and will continue being “A Friendly Solution to Junk Removal & Moving”
