This past Saturday, we had the opportunity to participate in a spring trash clean up event in Brownsburg. We had fun picking up trash. Really, we did! Fire Dawgs participated in the Hendricks County Partnership for Water Quality’s annual Spring Clean-Up 2019 on Saturday and pulled a lot of funky stuff off the side of the road and out of waterways. What were the top items we found? We asked this question on social media, and our followers guessed right! There were lots and lots of plastic bottles, fast food wrappers, cans, and more! However, here are the top items we found:
Most Common Items We Found on Spring Clean Up 2019 in Hendricks County
- Beer Cans
- Alcohol Bottles (glass and plastic)
- Fast Food Trash
- Plastic Bottles
- Plastic Bags
We also found tires and paint cans near water sources, which is concerning. Items like paint cans and tires especially should disposed of at one of the county’s tox drop events. Or, people like Fire Dawgs can help you dispose of these hazardous items as well.
How to Participate in Next Year’s Event
Follow the Town of Brownsburg on social media, and look out for the sign up in about March. The County Wide Spring Clean Up page can be found here.
So, also be sure to keep an eye on that if you’d like to participate. We had a blast, and we are definitely planning on participating again next year. Furthermore, you can participate as an individual, household, HOA, team, or other civic group.
The town and sponsoring companies and organizations provide trash bags, trash grabbers, safety vests, gloves, buckets, hand sanitizers, safety signs, and other items to help with the clean up.
Thank you for your interest in the Hendricks County Spring Clean Up 2019 event, and we hope to see you next year!
